Fr. Charles Deering
Fr. Charles Deering assumed the role of Pastoral Administrator at St. Joseph on July 1st, 2025. Fr. Deering has been an ordained priest of our diocese for three years. He previously served at Annunciation of the Lord Parish in Decatur. Fr. Deering is overjoyed to be serving and supporting the Catholic community in Florence. He is committed to sharing the truth of our Faith with conviction rather than compromise, keeping always the love of Christ outpoured in the Most Holy Eucharist at the forefront of our work here at St. Joseph, so that we all may more fully conform ourselves to the Alter Christus we’re called to be. Fr. Deering is eternally grateful for the support he receives from his parents, Cathy and Charles Sr., who have done so much to foster his faith.
Deacon Greg Beam
Deacon
Deacon Greg has faithfully served St. Joseph since December 2018. He supports Fr. Jonathan during weekend Masses, leads Vespers on Sunday evenings, assists in OCIA, facilitates adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and conducts Communion Services when needed. A cherished member of our parish, he has been married to Connie for 46 years, and together they have two sons, Jacob and Michael.
Brenda Bruce
Secretary
Brenda has been the secretary to St. Joseph since 2020, efficiently managing church office operations and providing vital support to the pastor and staff.
Kimberly Kroeger
DRE, Director of Religious Education, Bookkeeper, Campus Minister for our CCM students at The University of North Alabama.
Kim has served as the Director of Religious Education (DRE) and Campus Minister since 2014, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to her roles. In 2024, she expanded her responsibilities by taking on the position of bookkeeper.
Kim and Mike have been married since 1991 and have 5 beautiful children, and soon to be 2 grandchildren.
Ana Castillo
Youth Director
Ana has served our youth and young adults as Youth Director since the fall of 2023. She coordinates events and activities for St. Joseph's parish to engage young people in our community and motivate them to grow as missionary disciples.
John Foust
Liturgical Assistant
John has served as the Liturgical Assistant since 2015, coordinating servers for every Mass and assisting in the preparation for the sacraments with dedication and precision.
Brittany Bandstra
Director of Music
Brittany is the Director of Music Ministry for Saint Joseph Catholic Church and School. She organizes choirs, instrumental ensembles, and creates an inviting artistic community of people to praise and glorify God.
Wanda Rodriguez
Hispanic Minister
Wanda was hired in June 2025 to support the Hispanic community with weddings, baptisms, funerals, and quinceañeras. She also assists in organizing liturgical ministries for the Spanish Mass, including altar servers, the Spanish choir, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion. In collaboration with the priest, she helps train new altar servers, lectors, ushers, and extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion. Additionally, she will lead Formation classes on Thursday evenings.
Dixie Chavez
Hispanic Coordinator
Dixie joined as our Hispanic Minister in 2024, providing valuable support by coordinating Hispanic families in PSR and assisting with church registration.
Joe Rowell
Janitor
Joe has faithfully served as our janitor for 30 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment and dedication to maintaining our facilities.
Courtney Magee
School Principal
Mrs. Courtney Magee is the principal of St. Joseph School. Born and raised in Tennessee, she attended the University of North Alabama where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education before beginning her teaching career at St. Joseph in 2005. She is Highly Qualified to teach in grades K-6, and she holds additional endorsements in Reading K-12 and Middle School Mathematics as well. After completing her undergraduate work, she completed additional postgraduate work in Elementary Education and Instructional Leadership.
When not in school, Mrs. Magee enjoys spending time with her husband, Bryan, a 1996 St. Joseph graduate. Their oldest son is a 2023 St. Joseph graduate, while their youngest two attend St. Joseph School in grades 6th and 2nd. They attend St. Joseph Catholic Church. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and cooking.
